As Chief Communications Officer, David is responsible for protecting and promoting Petco’s positive reputation. He oversees company-wide communication strategy, including executive, financial and employee communications; public and media relations; issues and crisis management; corporate events and travel; as well as Petco’s naming rights partnership with the San Diego Padres. Throughout his 10-year tenue at Petco, Dave has been instrumental in driving powerful narratives to elevate Petco’s brand among key stakeholders — including the company’s journey of transformation from a retailer to a 360-degree, omnichannel pet health and wellness company. An accomplished communications leader with decades of experience guiding effective programs and high-performing teams, Dave joined Petco from HP, where he served in various communications leadership positions. As a passionate advocate for driving a workplace culture that prioritizes diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and where all individuals are encouraged to bring their most authentic selves to work, Dave serves as executive sponsor for the company’s LGBTQ+ at Petco employee resource group. Dave holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and advertising from California Lutheran University. He is based at Petco’s National Support Center in San Diego.
