Chief Development Officer

Britta S. Schwab serves as Chief Development Officer for Petco Love, bringing more than 15 years of nonprofit leadership, fundraising, and community engagement experience to the organization. Throughout her career, she has worked for several of the largest and most respected nonprofit organizations in the United States, building partnerships and generating support for meaningful, mission-driven work. Originally from York, Pennsylvania, and now residing in Houston, Texas, Britta earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from Elizabethtown College. She is also pursuing a Ph.D. in Cognitive & Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University, where her dissertation work explores the intersection of individuals with disabilities and law enforcement, reflecting her longstanding interest in strengthening communities through research, collaboration, and education. Britta is driven by Petco Love’s lifesaving mission and is especially inspired by trap-neuter-return efforts and other programs that improve the lives of communities and their pets. A committed volunteer, she cares for a feral cat colony and has seen firsthand the impact that compassionate, community-based animal welfare programs can make. Britta is also the proud pet mom of Mishka, 17, a former barn kitten (pictured); Gracie, 12, who was adopted from the Houston SPCA; and Basil, 2, who began life as a stray colony cat. When she is not working or volunteering, Britta enjoys traveling and experiencing new places, cultures, and communities.
