We know staying connected with the community and responding to tips is imperative when searching for a lost pet. New Message Alerts provide SMS and email alerts when someone reaches out through Petco Love Lost. Whether a neighbor sends a message saying they think they spotted your pet, or a community member offers to help, you’ll receive instant updates to ensure that no message slips through the cracks. And we’ll send timely reminders for any message waiting for you in your inbox so you can stay focused on your search. 

Let Us Search While You Canvas the Neighborhood

The search for a lost pet goes beyond just staying connected to the community and responding to messages. At Petco Love, we know that the first 72 hours are the most important, and it is impossible to be everywhere at once: putting up posters, talking to neighbors and the community for anyone who may have seen your pet, all while canvassing the neighborhood and visiting local shelters. That’s why we’ve introduced New Match Alerts to Petco Love Lost, a tool designed to be your personal search party so you can focus on walking and talking to your community. 

When a pet parent reports their pet lost on Petco Love Lost, we go to work searching our database to identify potential matches for your pet, based on the photo uploaded. When a potential image match has been identified, we send real-time alerts via SMS and/or email (based on opt-in preferences) with a direct link to potential match(es) we’ve found. We search and identify new matches across found pets reported by Petco Love Lost users, posts by users on Nextdoor, as well as pets that have been brought to shelters.
