A Shelter Dog, a Forever Bond
Yuki brought laughter, gentleness, and meaning into Anna’s life—turning ordinary days into an extraordinary life.
Since 2013, Petco Love has celebrated the love that we share with our pets through our annual Love Stories campaign. We’re excited to celebrate the special connection between Anna and Yuki, an adopted dog from Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation.
Anna + Yuki’s Love Story
When we adopted Yuki, we thought we were just bringing home a dog. What we actually brought home was a comedian, a cuddle coach, and the CEO of chaos.
From day one, Yuki made it clear she was running the show. Grocery day? Every bag gets inspected like she’s head of quality control. Walk upstairs? Prepare to pause for snuggles— the staircase is her official cuddle checkpoint. Game day? She's ready in her Pittsburg Steelers jersey and a tail that wags like a ‘Terrible Towel.’ And her prized possession, a stuffed squid, has been “buried” in the most outrageous places: under couch cushions, inside laundry baskets, even wedged between pillows like she’s hiding treasure.
Then come the zoomies. One moment the house is calm, the next it’s pure chaos— Yuki is an all-white blur tearing laps through the rooms, ears flying, tail wagging, while we laugh so hard we can’t breathe. Her timing is impeccable, like she knows exactly when we need a dose of joy.
But behind all the hilarity is the most loving and gentle heart. Yuki greets everyone she meets with the gentlest hugs, reminding us daily that strangers are just friends we haven’t met yet. She curls up beside us when we’re tired, pushes her head into our hands when we need comfort, and fills our home with a steady, unconditional love that’s impossible to put into words.
She’s also turned us into people who celebrate dog birthdays with more excitement than our own. Her big day comes with balloons, treats, and way too many photos— and honestly, it’s one of the happiest traditions we’ve ever had.
Adopting Yuki has changed everything. She’s made our home louder, funnier, and infinitely warmer. She’s taught us to slow down and laugh more, to find joy in the little things, and to let love take center stage in the everyday.
Yuki may have started as a ‘shelter dog,’ but now she’s our family, our laughter, our constant reminder that love isn’t just something you feel — it’s something you live.
