Thanks to a kitten named Blue, Michelle’s son has the support he needs to thrive.
Michelle + Blue
Michelle’s son was having panic attacks and felt lonely during the COVID-19 lockdown. Then a kitten named Blue brought love and friendship to their family and helped change their world for the better.
"Blue provides love for others and love for his little boy. We have a life full of smiles, and Blue is a wonderful spokeskitty for kids with ADHD."
My little boy has ADHD and was completely breaking down from panic attacks and loneliness while on lockdown because of COVID-19. He had few friends and little contact with the outside world and was starting to really struggle with ADHD disabilities and depression. He needed a friend, so we adopted a kitten from It’s Meow or Never. We named the kitten Blue because it was a blue moon the night we adopted him—and the kitten changed my son’s world.
Our little boy trained Blue to walk on a leash, play hide and seek, ride in a car, and socialized him for being in the public. Blue now goes everywhere with our son as his companion animal. Blue even goes to the beach with him and walks all the trails here in Tallahassee with his very own kitty beach bag, too. Blue has helped my son overcome his socialization disabilities. Everyone wants to stop and pet Blue on the trails. They pose for pictures and have become little celebrities when we are out.
Blue provides love for others and love for his little boy. Even the panic attacks are manageable with Blue by his side. We have a life full of smiles, and Blue is a wonderful spokeskitty for kids with ADHD. He has made social distancing and isolation bearable during the pandemic, too.
We were told that Blue was a bottle-fed kitten. We understand that most bottle-fed kittens struggle to survive and take special foster care. The person who took the time and love for this kitten changed our world because Blue paid that forward tenfold with his love for his little boy.
Kids with ADHD sometimes have a hard time connecting and communicating. Our family will be forever grateful for Blue and how he changed our little boy’s life.
Each year, Petco Love Stories invites adopters to share how their pets have changed their lives to give the organizations that they’ve adopted from the chance to receive grant awards. This story by Michelle won It’s Meow or Never in Tallahassee, Florida a 2021 Love Stories award.
